Dan Conover was born in Chicago, grew up in North Carolina, served overseas with the U.S. Army, and lives and writes in historic Charleston, S.C., with his wife, graphic designer and writer Janet Edens.
He’s a former South Carolina Journalist of the Year who used to have a membership in the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. His short fiction won two Phobos Awards, and has appeared in the print anthologies Absolutely Brilliant in Chrome, All The Rage This Year, Empire of Dreams and Miracles, and Riffing on Strings. He’s also the author of a collection of short stories, dozens of essays on media and culture, and the novels A Madness and Siobeth.
He spent 20 years in the newspaper business as a reporter, editor and web guy. Since 2008 he’s earned his living as a freelance writer and consultant. He also runs a mobile bike-repair business on the side, and covers local soccer at CHSSoccer.net. He and his wife have four grown children.
